Has anyone been approved with Unicare?

I recently tried to get approved through Unicare and was denied because of
an exclusion, if you have any luck please e-mail me and let me know what I

Yes, I was approved Last November. I called and bugged them every day
after my doctore sent his letter in. I got about 3 letters from them
saying they weren't going to cover it because I had to have a psych evail
done. I did it then I called them and they kept telling me they were
evailuating it. My last call I told them If they didn't get their butts in
gear I was going to die or hire a lawyer. I then got a phone call from the
supervisor the next morning saying they were going to cover it. If you

I also went from the BTC to a non profit hospital because it was half the
cost. Maybe that's why they covered it.

YES!! I was approved with Unicare in August of 2000. They did required a
medical history of attempted weight loss and a psych evaluation. I called
them everyday and asked who my case manager was. I then spoke to her and
told her of my battle with obesity and then I threatened to send in naked
pictures of me if they didn't approve me! She said.."uh.. that won't
be necessary!"... anyways.. she seemed really concerned about my
plight and I was approved 3 days after I spoke with her. I can't remember
how I found out her name since they usually keep it a secret. The customer
service people who answer the phones always say.."it is being
reviewed" and are always secretive about the people handling the
actual case. I sure wish I could remember how I found out her name. I
don't know if I would have been approved if I hadn't told her my sob story.
Of course this was almost 2 years ago so I don't know if they have put a
written exclusion in there now. Good luck to you!
