I need information pertaining to Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO

It may depend on the state you are in. I am in Alabama and I have BC/BS PPO and I received an approval letter within 2 weeks of my initial doc. visit. I've had no problems. So far they've paid for everything but $100.

Hi Tim ... I sent you an email, but in case others are interested ... I have BCBS of Illinois ... I phoned to get pre-approval for surgery, and BCBS said MY COMPANY opted to not have this covered. I thought I was going to have to fight my HR or whoever I needed to, but my surgeon sent a "medical necessity" letter to BCBS, and they ended up covering 100% (minus $500 co-pay/deductible). Good luck!!! 8 weeks out, -40.

I have BC/BS PPO of VA. The school system I work for has chosen to cover weight loss surgery. I'm pretty sure its not BC BS that is making the decision whether or not to cover obesity. I think it is the company you work for that makes that call. Tell your friend to try anyway, maybe they will decide to cover it after all. Good Luck and God Bless.
