Question:
I have BCBS of Michigan through Ford and wonder how much information they'll want.

Hi Lynette. Although I don't "do" insurance, I also have BCBS of MI. I am having surgery by Dr Scholten in Grand Rapids, MI. When the office sent in the paperwork for my PRE-approval (and I stress the PRE part of it) they were told that BCBS of MI does not PRE-approve this surgery. I had to sign a waiver saying that I would pay the fees if BCBS denied my claim. They (the office) sent me a copy of BCBS's letter and the new written policy. Keep your fingers crossed for me as I went ahead and scheduled surgery for 5-1-00. I wish you the best of luck. PS. I agree to let the office handle the first letter for submission. I'm also an RN and though I know quite a bit LOL the doc. came up with several diagnoses/comorbidities that I wouldn't have thought of.

I am not sure about you rins. co. but you r letter is very thorough and informative. I sould suggest making you rletter so that all your physician has to do is sign and copy onto letterhead.Hope this helps.
