Hi...Ronnie! I am sorry to say that I did not get approved by John Alden Health. Mine was a PPO and had an exclusion in the policy that said WE WILL NOT COVER ANY SERVICES RELATED TO THE MANAGEMENT OR TREATMENT OF ANY OVERWEIGHT OR OBESITY CONDITIONS. In my denial letter they said that its not that they didn't find it medically necessary but because of the contract exclusion they could not approve it. My husband's employer had the exclusion put in the policy. I don't know what kind of policy you have but look in the exclusion part of the book and see if there is an exclusion on obesity. I tried to fight them but because of the "ANY Services and ANY Overweight or Obesity conditions" they would not approve it. Maybe your policy is different. I would just look in the book or call them and ask them if the Gastric Bypass is covered. Please email me if you have any questions. I would be glad to help in any way I can. [email protected]
