Question:
Is BC/BS excluding WLS as of Jan.1. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I read somewhere that BC/BS will be excluding WLS from their policies as of January 1st and I wondered if this is misinformation or a rumor. Any infor would be greatly appreciated.    — Tara J. (posted on December 3, 2001)

There are a million different BC/BS policies - federal, state, company-issues, POS, PPO. Just contact BCBS and ask for the book for YOUR POLICY for next year, they usually mail them in November. Or ask your company for it. They don't keep these things secret, you just have to look.

I have heard that too. Actually someone at BCBS told me that. However, if your company does not have an exclusion and if they have paid for other surgeries (WLS) they can still honor it. I would try anyway, I think you will get approval.
