I was approved in 12 days. I didn't have to deal with Aetna at all, but I called almost every day to see if they reached a decision, lol. Hope you get approved!!!

I was approved last week after waiting 4 long weeks. The patient advocate in the surgeons office did the work. They requested additional information to prove that I have been obese for 5 years. My doctors record didn't have wts because I often refused. I got old surgery reports and they accepted that. I had 3 MD visits 3 months in a row, dietician consultations, exercise program in place with receipts, sleep study, psychologist eval. My BMI of 46 and health problems wouldn't do it alone. I had to meet the requirements. Best of luck!

Aetna or not, every policy is different. The key is not to give up. Even if they say no at first, appeal it!! It took me 9 months and several denials before I got approved. It can be an emotional roller coaster at times. I was approved 2 days ago and am glad that I didn't give up. Hang in there. I hope you get a quick answer.

I am covered under Aetna with a similar policy. The hardest part of getting an approval from them is the 6 months of supervised weight loss. They denied me several times until I was able to finally produce 6 months of documented weights from my primary physician. If you haven's started having your doctor document your weights....do it now! Good news is that they will accept any documented weight from any physician including ob/gyn. My 6 documented weights came from different doctors (and they dont have to be consecutive) Don't give up...it will happen. Good Luck.

I have Aenta POS also and on may 16 my dr faxed everything over to them and just 2 hours later I was approved.... just make sure you have everything they want, I had to have a psyc eval, 3 month documented diet, proof of obesity for at lease 5 years, and that was it. But Good luck
