Your profile says your BMI is 52. Can you give us more details of the disapproval? It doesn't make sense on the surface.

Hi-I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO. I was approved without difficulty with a BMI of 46. I also have high blood pressure, the beginnings of weight related arthritis in one knee, back pain and GERD. So those were my qualifications. I would defineatly appeal it. Marie

I was turned down today from Pacificare for the same reasons. It is so unfair,They are obviously not out to help people. I wish you luck,I am tired of applying and being turned down,I have medi-cal and will have to wait 1-3 years to get in for surgery. Good luck.

I read that your profile said you have a BMI of 52. If so, then their must be some other reason they denied you. I had a BMI of 48 when I had my surgery, but I also had GERD, and sleep apnea. I was approved with the first letter.

I HAVE BLUE CHOICE HMO OF GA. I HAVE A BMI OF 43. I WAS DENIED BACK IN FEB. OF 2001 DUE TO CONTRACT EXCLUSIONS. I DECIDED TO TRY AGAIN IN JULY AND I WAS APPROVED WITH THE FIRST LETTER. I HAVE GERD, HERNIA REPAIRED IN PAST AND HISTORY OF BLOOD CLOTS AND FAMILY HISTORY OF HEART. PROBLEMS. I WAS APPROVED AFTER TWO WEEKS. I WOULD APPEAL THE DECISION OR SEND IN MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ANY MEDICAL PROBLEMS. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.
