Question:
I was told it would take 4-6 MONTHES after the first letter to Aetna PPO.

I had my first consult.at the BTC in Grove City, Ohio on April 4, 2002. They told me that it would take 4-6 monthes just to hear back from Aetna PPO about approval. The only problem is, the insurance is through my husband and he really needs to change jobs quick. I am afraid I will wait 4-6 monthes for approval, (and who knows how long to get a surg. date) just to tell me that the insurance won't cover my surg. I really liked Dr.Viglianco, and would really like to go there if possible. I've looked at the insurers page on this site, and the longest approval time posted was 12 WEEKS! Has anyone else been told it would take this long? Or should I try a different surgoen? Any suggestions welcome! [email protected]. Thanks!    — Denise P. (posted on April 17, 2002)

Hello There, I was approved by Aetna (PP0) in four weeks total. Just make sure you call every single day until you know the CORRECT deparment has received your info.(that held me up a week, even though I mailed it to the address they had given me, I faxed it the second time) Then, I called (i was obsessive) every other day in the beginning and then 2 weeks into it I called every day to check the status. If you have any more questions, you can e-mail me at [email protected]. Good Luck!! Lisa :-)

I have Aetna HMO and was approved in 4 days. I told my doctor's office that my husband would be changing jobs soon and they really made an effort so that I can have the surgery before the insurance changes. If you tell the doctor's insurance person, she might be able to push it through faster and then you push Aetna from your side, too. Good luck!

I am waiting for my surgery date at BTC in Grove City. I also have Aetna PPO and was approved after only 2 weeks. Who told you 6 months? I was told by the people at BTC that Aetna is usually very quick and easy to get approval from. Good luck and let me know what you find out!

I was told it would take 4-6 weeks, but had my answer within the week. I called them at one week, just to see where they were, and was VERY surprised to hear it had already been approved!!
