Question:
What does 'functional disability plastics

If the insurance company states that I do not have a "functional disability", therefore it is not covered, what does that mean? I want then to cover my abdominplasty.    — Lynne C. (posted on April 19, 2005)

Functional disability means that your having problems due to the excess skin. For example, rashes, odor, impairments that the excess skin have caused you (for example trying to exercise or run and the excess skin "slaps" against itself causing you pain), etc. You need to show the insurance company the problems that you encounter due to this excess skin (mental isn't an acceptable excuse - you must show PHYSICAL problems).
