Question:
Has anyone hears of Mamsi HMO (I live in Maryland); or had dealings with them for wls

Unfortunelty,,I also have MAMSI via Maryland and they DO NOT cover any surgery regarding weightloss. I had the surgery in November under another company, and now that I have MAMSI I can not return to that doctor because of the insurance,,,and it sucks! So now I have to go to my PCP and send information to my surgeon. Good Luck! Kim

Laura, your employers contract with Mamsi may or may not cover WLS. Each employer negotiates a different contract, so coverages vary widely. If you're currently with them, check your policy (you're entitled to one, so ask for the full policy if you don't have a copy) and see what the requirements are. Good luck to you!

Laura, I have MAMSI (MD IPA) and I live in Virginia. I check had my initial denial overturned on the 1st appeal and I am approve as of June 13. So they can and will cover this. Maryland has the same Obesity Law going into effect (if not already) that Virginia has and I made that part of my appeal package. Good luck...
