Question:
Has anyone been approved using this insurance? PHCS/Reliastar

I have Reliastar which is an insurance company under the PHCS Group. PHCS is made up of 30 or more insurance companies. I have seen some of these listed on this site with folks being approved for WLS. I haven't seen any from Reliastar. Does anyone know if they appove the surgery. Also would anyone have any idea if one of the carries under the group does that that mean all of the carries would? Thanks for your help and support.    — Ricky H. (posted on October 9, 1999)

You should get a copy of your insurance plan handbook. It should show all the plan limitations and exclusions. One insurance company can have many different plans (different employer groups,etc.)So, while you particular ins. co. may exclude WLS on one plan it may be a benefit on yours! Check out your plan! Hi. I think PHCS is a plan administrator, rather than an insurance company. I have PHCS, Allmerica, and they covered it all as long as I used a network physician and hospital. Jaye Carl, open RNY 7-29-99, 55 pounds gone forever!
