Question:
anyone in NC been turned down cause of a low bmi(42)

ok heres my problem my surgeons cordinator done all the paper work for medicaid to approve my surgery well she screwed up my bmi,she sent in a bmi of 33 they sent back a denial saying my bmi was to low,can anyone tell me what NC medicaid reqires BMI to be please i would apprecite someone tellin me somethin,please feel free to email,or message here [email protected] iam really worried about this my weight is 253 and my height is 5'4 so i cant amagine them turning it down but then they probably will..    — Jenny C. From what I've gathered ~ BMI needs to be 40 unless you have comorbidities, then it can be as low as 35 with some companies. However, if the nurse screwed up that should be pretty fixable. What's she doing to try to correct it???

Hey Jen. Call this number 1-919-851-8888 to contact NC Medicaid and a rep. can answer all of your questions. I called last August when I was looking into wls and was told that they do approve the surgery if your primary physician and wls doctor says that you need it. So it sounds like this lady that made a mistake just needs to correct her mistake. (keep it simple). Good luck on your wls process.((HUGS))

HI LAURIE TY FOR ANWERING ME BACK, YES SHE SENTIN ANOHTER FORM PLUS A LETTER STAING HER MISTAKE AND THEN SHE ALSO SENT IN ALL MY NEWEST BLOODWORK AND I LET ME TELL U EVERYTHING WAS SO HIGH MY TRIGLCERIDES WERE OVER 300 AND THAT WAS FASTING AND MY CHOLESRTOL IS ALMOST 300 AND I DONT THINK MEDICAID WILL TURN IT DOWN,BUT MY FIRST AND ONLY DENY LETTER WAS BECUASE SHE SHOWED MY BMI BEING 33 BUT ITS 42..I WILL LET U KNOW WHAT HAPPENS I AM LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER NEXT WEEK...HUGS AND THANKS AGAIN FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION JENNY
