Question:
Anyone have any personal info good or bad about going to Mexico for surgery?

I have a freind who is considering having surgery in Mexico due to Ins not paying for it. I have looked at the south of the border and read testimonials but oddly enough most of them only tell how they spoke or emailed the surgeons and they seemed nice. Not much on how their actual surgeries & experiences went. Have any of you or anyone you have know went to Mexico? Please give me your in put, she also reads the questions here so It would be a great help to her as well. It is Dr. Aguirre BTW.....Thank You in Advance! Denise there are many people on this site who have gone to Dr. Aguirre. If you pull up his name from the list of surgeons you can see the list of patients he has. But the trick here instead of concentrating on the testimonials it to read his post op patients profiles. That is where each person can tell their own story and so it will tell you a lot more and give you a good feel for their experiences in general. From what I've read most everyone who has had surgery with him is very happy. Personally I only remember one unhappy person and they backed out of surgery at the last minute.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Aguirre. Open RNY in May, 2003. I am doing very well. I have had no complications. I had a very good experience with Dr. Aguirre. At my initial consult (the day before surgery), I immediately felt at ease with him. He wanted to make sure I understood everything before I undertook such a serious venture. He was kind and thorough and appeared to me to know what he was doing. I definitely felt, at that point, that I could trust him to perform the procedure. The next day when I reported to the hospital for surgery, I was greeted by nurses who were very kind and nurturing and put me at ease. The hospital is very modest but certainly adequate. I remember almost nothing until I woke from surgery. I was in the hospital 2.5 days and never had to ring twice for a nurse. I was the only patient of Dr. Aguirre in the hospital at that time and so I had a private nurse. His nurses never have more than 2 patients at a time. I would recommend Dr. Aguirre to anyone. If you, or your friend, have questions, please email me. Good luck!
