Question:
Has anyone recently had surgery that has Federal Blue Cross?

I have Fed BcBs and they do not give pre-approval. I have had to pay my doctor ahead of time and have to put a claim in after surgery and HOPE they pay. Could anyone tell me if they have had recent experience with this insurance and tell me if they have paid. I'm getting nervous since my surgery is scheduled for July 17th. Hi. I had open RNY 6 months ago and I have Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal insurance. I have not gotten any bills and they have paid every dime. I contacted them before surgery because I too was worried about them not pre-approving surgery. The only requirements were 100 pounds overweight and a BMI of over 40. If you meet these requirements, you shouldn't have any problem getting them to pay. Good luck!

I had surgery last July, (not real recent) but anyway.....I had absolutely no problem with them. I was in shock that I was approved so quickly, because I didnt have very many co-morbs. Good luck!!

Hey there. I had surgery on 4/1/02 and had no problems whatsoever with BC/BS Fed. Div. Just one note of caution. Make SURE that your Doctor AND the hospital is on your insurance plan. So far, they have paid everything except for co-pays. Good Luck!

I had my openVBG last June (2001) and my abdominoplasty four days ago (May 16) - BC/BS FEP paid and is paying it all...no problems with them at all before or after....
