Question:
How successful is WWW.OBESITYLAW.COM in getting insurance approval?

I've been denied by my insurance company (Anthem BC/BS)and have also been denied on my appeal. My next course appears to be with the people at www.obesitylaw.com. My question is, how successful are they are getting your denials reversed, and how long does it usually take them? I really want this surgery and I am not about to give up fighting, but before I get too deep in contacting the attorney, I would like to know how much more fighting I'll have to do. I've not gotten any help from my PCP nor the surgeon in getting this approved. Thanks for your help!    — jeannieree (posted on May 15, 2000)

Jean, Sorry about your denial, but after checking your profile I think your problem may be in the way your request was submitted. You state that you were denied because they do not cover cosmetic surgery. Never use the word "cosmetic" when requesting WLS surgery. This surgery is and can be a life saving procedure. Try re-submitting listing any health problems you are experiencing due to your weight, along with information directly related to the benefits of WLS.

I guess I should clarify a little better, the insurance company considers this to be "cosmetic" and in my appeal letter I made reference to the fact that it is NOT cosmetic! They're still denying it!
