Question:
Could there possibly be a way around an exclusion......

I know this is a looooooooong shot but here it goes - I have United Health care we have an exclusion, but I have United Behavioral Health for mental insurance. Has anyone ever tried to get around an exclusion by way of eating disorder that antideppressants have not cured or stablized.I know sometimes if a certain group of medications don't work then psyciatrists will go outside and prescribe a medication that is specifically for another disorder but seems to help your particular problem. Like using Ritalin for depression. Here I am trying to still figure out away to put the round peg in the square hole. Any suggestions?    — [Anonymous] (posted on April 9, 2001)

Does your policy exclude MORBID obesity surgery? I think this is the key wording. I also have an exclusion on my insurance, and people on this site have encouraged me to go to my employee benfits office and write an appeal letter to insurance co. also my Dr. is writing a letter of appeal hope this helps!
