Question:
Does it sound as if I will be approved?

My insurance is Empire Blue Choice PPO. My Dr. submitted info. to ins. co. and they contacted him to request more info. ie. weight loss history, documentation of co-morbidities, psych eval. etc. He sent them all the info with the exception of the psych eval. as I had not done that yet. when he contacted them to find out if they received info. they said they had and they are just waiting for eval. I since have had that done and it should be faxed tomorrow. My question is if sounds as if they will approve me. wouldn't they have said no right away after receiving additional info and not told him they were only waiting for eval? I am very anxious about this and wondering if anyone could share thier comments.    — Jodie R. (posted on November 4, 1999)

It looks like there is a provision in your insurance policy for WLS with co-morbidities. It looks good, but the co-morbidities must be there. Good Luck.

I just got approved through Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO through Sears. They are going through the procedures of getting the information to the medical director for review. I was told all Gastric Bypasses must go to the director for review.
