Jennifer, thank you SO for your candid updates in your profile, especially concerning your having an eating disorder and dealing with clinical depression. I had surgery 5/2 and have been having a hard time with my eating. Sometimes I can eat quite a bit, and other times I can't at all. I just had an Upper GI to rule out any problems, but I suspect it will all come back normal and the recommendation will be to follow up with my therapist. Hey Jennifer, I am a year post-op and fighting head hunger has been a constant for me but was much easier to win the first few months when I had no appetite, just had episodes where my eyes got big when I'd see a Pizza Hut commercial or hear someones going to get Krispy Creme. Then I'd think "I couldn't eat that if I wanted to". Now I can eat it if I want and it scares me. I know the quantity of what I can eat is MUCH smaller than what I used to eat pre-op, but I think we all fear failure since we failed every other weight loss attempt. For example, I have had a donut a time or two since surgery, but have not been able to finish even one at a sitting. I still feel guilty. Lately I feel I am eating too much, but again my portions are within what I should be eating. I think it is strange for all of us who gradualy start feeling an appetite again. If you think this is a problem please tell your surgeon. Maybe try different sources of protein that you will find filling. I love cheese. It's filling and yummy! I wish you the best! Hang in there. You are not alone.
