I am 51, 5'1", 268#. I am just starting the process for approval, but my doctors and insurance carrier feel that I should have no trouble being approved. I have my first appoint with Dr. Phillip Huber, Dallas on July 27, 1999.
8/9/99-Update-received approval from Unitedhealthcare today. Also set surgery date for 9/8/99. Carrier received request last Friday and approved today!!!

9/26/99
I am now 2 1/2 weeks post-op and doing well. I have lost 21# and feel really good. I have had no complications and am tolerating my food (liquids and soft food)without problem. I am so happy I had the surgery....tho it has not been a walk in the park.
