I am a forty-five year old male who has been gaining weight steadily for the past fifteen years. At thirty I stood 6'6" and weighed approximately 230 LBS. Now I weigh near 600 pounds. I have dieted, taken exercise classes, pushed myself physically harder than I ever did when I was thin, and nothing has worked. I have been approved for surgery by Lovelace insurance, but the only one available in New Mexico is gastric banding/stapling. Having studied the subject for some time now, I am convinced that a Distal Gastric Bypass or similar surgery is what I need. My doctor will refer me to any surgeon within my Lovelace district, which includes all of New Mexico and Southern Colorado up to Durango. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
