Surgeon: Mary E. Estakhri, M.D.
My Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery will be performed by Dr. Mary Estakhri, New Start Program, at the San Ramon Regional Medical Center. Dr. Estakhri was very thorough in her examination and answered any questions that I had. Prior to my appointment with the doctor, the Bariatric Coordinator explained each surgical option that was available (complete with visual aids). I also met with a dietician who explained what my post-op diet would be like if I chose to have surgery. They left no stone unturned. I have been impressed from the beginning by Dr. Estakhri's staff, especially Donna, and support personnel, Debbie Frickel, R.N., Bariatric Coordinator. They all receive an A+ in professionalism.

Cigna is now paying 100%; Thank you Cigna. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> My insurance company is paying the "contract" amount for my surgery. My doctor's office is balance-billing me for the remainder--$3,558.00. I have had tremendous difficulty getting assistance from Cigna's customer service regarding this. They will not refer me to a supervisor, nor am I able to speak to someone in their patient relations office--only the doctors office can talk to them. My doc's office has been unable to get a response from Cigna via telephone and certified mail regarding additional funds.
