Hi Everyone! It's me, Lavada. I know it's been much too long since I've updated and I apologize. Everytime I tried to do it, the system kept throwing out my comments. It's now been almost 7 months since my surgery and I've lost 100 POUNDS! People who've not seen me since the surgery, don't usually recognize me. I feel so much healthier and happier. Buying clothes is a wonderful experience for the first time in my entire life. Thanks to all my friends at my gastric support group for their support and encouragement. And thank you, Dr. Gaskin for being such a competent and caring surgeon.

I had my surgery on April 24, 2002. It was one tough surgery and I'm glad it's over. Dr. Gaskin was marvelous, but the nursing care was atrocious. (Be sure to take someone with you to stay with you if you are going to have this surgery.) I thank God for my husband. He was wonderful to me. It's now been 12 weeks and I'm doing well. I've lost 56 pounds and I'm going to have to go get some different interim clothing because mine are FALLING OFF OF ME! Darn the luck!! I feel well and I'm doing things I haven't been able to do in a very long time. I wish all of you well that are contemplating the surgery and I highly recommend Dr. Gaskin. Special thanks to the support group members that I attend. They're all such marvelous people and have helped tremendously.

Good luck on your surgery April 24. I will say a special prayer for you on your very special day and remember that we will both be on the other side together on our way to being happier and healthier. See you at the meeting in May and take good care of yourself and know I will be thinking about you.
