My BMI is only 37, but I feel I still need the surgery. My blood pressure is uncontollable. For the last several months I have put on many medication and undergone several tests. The medication I am recently on for my blood pressure is Norvasc 5mg, Atenolol/Chlor 50 mg. I am not happy with my appearance and am very concerned with my health.

This is a picture of my husband and I at a Christmas party this past January. I weighed about 215 pounds. I look horrible!!!

It has been a little over two years since my surgery. I am down to 115 lbs. I am loving it!!! I have had a few set-backs, but nothing severe. A year after my bypass surgery, I had incisional hernia repair surgery. Not quite a year following that, I had open biopsy surgery on my right breast. I was a benign tumer thank God. December 7th of 2004, I had lap exploratory surgery beacuse my ob-gyn thought I had endometrosis. I do have it and he worked extensively on removing adhesions that I developed from the open bypass surgery and the lap hernia repair. After this surgery, I went in to have my staples removed. I had a horrible pain on my right side. I told my doctor about this and she had me go in for a songram. They found that I had numerous gall bladder stones. I had surgery a week after my exploratory surgery. Following this surgery, the doctor informed my husband and I that the pain I was experiencing was not caused from the stones, but from a hemotoma that developed fron the exploratory surgery. He removed my gall bladder anyway because he felt that this would avoid problems in the future. Other than that I could not be any happier. I feel very good about myself. I have some saggy skin in my stomach area and my breasts are quite saggy and lost some firmness. This is has a lot to do with having three children and losing my extra pounds.

Many more complications since I last updated my profile. I now have Nesdioblastosis, secondary hyperparathyroidism, osteopenia, severe Vitamin D deficiency. I now wished I never had the surgery. Ironically, I think I was healthier before I underwent gastric bypass surgery. I have recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease, which has nothing to do with the surgery.

I have another child since I last updated too. I love him with all of my heart. All of my children!!

  • Surgeon Info:
    Surgeon: Edward Hixson, M.D.
Dr. Hixson was a very nice person. He answered all my questions and reassured me that I was going to do fine with the surgery and that he was proud that I was taking the initiative to change my life. All in all, I am happy with Dr.Hixson. His wife,Karen Hixson, I absolutely love. She is so understanding. Only good things come to those who wait! LOL! I will update as soon as possible!
    Insurer Info:
    Empire Plan, PPO
The doctor sent the necessary paper work to my insurance company via fax on June 6th 2002. I was approved on June 17th 2002. I didn't have to do anything. The doctor's office did it all. I am really happy!
