Hospital Reviews(Brooklyn, NY) - N.Y. Methodist Hospital
Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Ajay Goyal, MD, FACS
My first impression of Dr. Goyal was "oh he is very Cute". He is a very handsome and young surgeon. Of course once we were done speaking and he explained all there is to know about WLS I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. I had researched many surgeons before him and actually went to him because a friend of mine (estrella, love ya girl!) told me about him. His Current staff is pretty good. They are always nice when you call. Cinthya (one of Dr.goyals assistants) is very nice and down to earth! Dr.Goyal lets you know from day one the risks involved with this surgery as well as the benefits of it. The day of surgery i was a bit nervous and seeing him in his scrubs ready to cut me open i thought " I trust him" Dr. Goyal went to see me everyday at the hospital (i was there for 4 days) and always calls back when you page him. His assitant Cinthya even called me at the hospital to see how i was doing! I have no regrets of having this surgery done by Dr. Goyal and have actually already recommened him to my sister. (thats how much i trust him)
Insurer Info:
Aetna, MCN
I must admit, i thought i was going to have a tough time with Aetna but actually they were great! I got denied the first time because i sent in my weight loss attempts but they werent in 6 consecutive months. so when i was denied i went to my primary for 6 months to get weighed in. after i had those 6 consecutive months under my belt...we resent the appeal and within a week i was appoved! as long as you follow their guidelines you should be ok. make sure to always call aetna and question teh status of your case. I found out the name of the nurse reviewing my case and would call and leave her nice messages to see how my case was doing, just so that she heard my voice and i guess i wouldnt be just another file or case. I think it worked!
