I haven't told many people my decision to have this surgery. I get different reactions from my friends. You have to hear how "if you just try a little harder you could loose the weight". I can honestly say that I have tried and I am still trying to this date. I am confident in this decision and I am ready for this journey.


6/09/2004 I have been researching WLS for over a year. On May 28th 2004 I had my consultation at the Barix Clinic in Wylie TX. Since I have United Healthcare all they had to do was call it in. It was called in on June 8 2004. I called United Healthcare on June 9 2004 and was informed that they are reviewing my case. So, keep your fingers crossed!


6/10/2004 Okay I decided I would call again today. I don't know why but I did. Anyway I was informed that it might take them a few weeks to come to a decision. I am calm. I hope that we can get this done. I would like to be on the other side by the end of August.

6/22/2004 Well, so far my case is still in review. It has only been since the 8th so I just need to be patient. I had my physchological evaluation on June 18th. I was scheduled on the 15th with my pcp to get a ref. for my clearances. I have to get an upper GI and some other little test. I missed my appointment because on the 14th my back went out. Apparently, I sprained a muscle in my back. The good thing is that I asked the doctor if this could possibly effect me not being able to have the surgery and he thought it was an excellent idea to have this surgery. That made me happy plus the pain pills were kicking in and that made me really happy.
I really hope I get this approval soon. I would like to have the surgery in August. Well, that is all for now. Hopefully, when I post again I will have a approval.

June 29, 2004--- Well, I called again today and I was informed that my approval was in the final stage and to wait about 5-7 days and I should get my answer. I guess I need to go and get the rest of my clearances out of the way.

JULY 1, 2004 --------- I AM APPROOOOOOVEEEEDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
All I have to do is get the rest of my clearances and I can get my surgery date.

JULY 2, 2004-------- Well, I have a set back. My boss doesn't feel it is the right time to take off. My job thinks I should wait until the holidays. Will they hold my approval for 4 months?

JULY 7, 2004----- I have decided to have my surgery at the end of August. That time works for everyone. I have a few clearances and I can move forward. I was informed by the clinic that they are scheduling withing one week of clearances.


JULY 11, 2004----I still haven't scheduled my clearances. Today I am going to write down all the things I expect after surgery.



AUGUST 16, 2004--------I have a date. September 1......It took me to really get upset to get it. There was some misunderstanding and they could not get there stuff together for a date. Finally, I called and got another consultation with Dirk Rodriguez. As soon as I a paid the 150.00 and sent over a release form for my records the Barix Clinic called. This time it was doctor Thrift himself. He scheduled me a date right then and there. I can't get a refund from the other doctor so I guess I just gave my money away.



August 23,2004--------I received my STD papers. The temp person never showed up today. I am a little concerned. There is no way they can learn my job without enough training. They should have came in over a week ago.


August 29,2004-------- I am so ready. I can't even concentrate. I have so much to do before at work. I am scheduled to be at the hospital for 9:30am.


AUGUST 31--2004 I AM SO READY. My surgery is tomorrow. I have so much to do but I am so ready to do it!



September 13---2004 Well, I had my surgery on September 1st. I posted a few since then but they didn't make the cut I guess. Well, I feel great. I have not weighed myself and I don't want to until I have my checkup.

SEPT. 17.........I feel fine. I lost some weight.



September 27, 2004 .......People say they see the weight loss. I don't at this point. I guess I am just taking it one day at a time.

October 1---2004......I have been back at work a week now. I feel better getting up and coming to work everyday. I have to say mornings are the hardest. I wake up feeling sick, it takes a few hours to get the uneasiness to go away.


October 6----2004....... Well, I am cramping from you know what. This is the first one since being home. My doctor is only letting me take tylenol (doesn't do the job). I haven't weighed in since going for my 2 week check up. I do feel a difference in my clothes. I can button up shirts that before I had to leave open.


October 11, 2004......I am feeling so good. I get a little sore after working out too hard but I am feeling great. I am wearing outfits that I haven't worn in years. My energy level is unbelievable. The only thing that kind of gets to me are my breasts. I have always had beautiful full HUGE breasts. They are melting before my eyes. (LOL) Anyway it goes with the rest of the fat.


10/13/2004 Well, I am still feeling great. I am so happy I did this. I know I am going to turn out just fine!


10/18/2004---My tummy has been hurting all day today. I think it is mad at me for eating at the fair!

10/20/2004---Today I am wearing an outfit that I haven't worn in over 2 years. It is so cute!

February 3,2005----Finally I can get back in! I am doing great. Looking great. I am almost under 200. I am so happy. Look good feel good.


February 15,2005-----I am feeling really good. Looking good!


January 2,2006 ----- Ok talk about a slow looser. I am still trying to get under 200. I am right at 204-210. The good thing is that I look really great. I work out but I decided this year I was going to go for it and get a personal trainer. I would like to loose about 25 more pounds. 175 was the goal weight I wanted and nothing smaller. I don't want to look sick or anything.
