Hi my name is Tanya and I weigh 230 pounds. This is the heaviest I've ever been. On Monday December 13th I went and had a physical. On Tuesday the 14th my doctor called me and is very upset with my cholesterol. My overall is 270 - which to me isn't really that bad, my bad cholesterol is 198 which is bad and my triglicerydes are 266 which is really bad. I talked her into not putting me on medicine and to try and let me get it down myself. So that's when I started thinking about the surgery. I know a couple of people who have had it done and they are having great results with it. I've had a weight problem since childhood and at 30 years old it's time to get the weight off for good.


My journey has started! I went to a the WLS seminar last wednesday (January 5, 2005) The doctors office called me the very next day, so that's exciting. I went to see the doctor for the consultation today. (January 13, 2005) We are in the process now of waiting. I have to hear back from the doctors assistant about the insurance and then we go from there. My doctor does want me to get a sleep study done, they want to make sure that I don't have sleep apnea before I go under. So I guess now it's time to play the waiting game. I'm starting to get excited but scared at the same time. Everything is becoming very real to me now; it's not just talk anymore.
