This is no April Fools!
04/01/06-Finally have my surgery date set and airline tickets are bought. I can't wait to be on the losing side. Never cheered for the losing side before. The anticipation is overwhelming. It's like waiting for your first born! My surgery is scheduled for April 12th with Dr. Lopez-Corvala. I am satisfied with my choice for a surgeon. My mom is going to traveling with me. My husband was going to go with me, but he just missed three days of work with the flu. That's ok, I think the little girl in me would prefer my mom. She has tons more patience, and I just can't see my husband sitting and waiting.

I am dreaming of losing more weight than when we were married in 06/1989. I was 134 then a was just a little thick. I was 117 just before I got pregnant with my first daughter. I want to be just in the middle of these two. I am just so uncomfortable being this heavy. I feel like I'm not really experiencing life, just floating through the days. I will update again after surgery.

P.S. I love reading everyone's profile's and seeing all their progress. It is also a learning experience through their trials and tribulations.

April 12th-
Had my surgery and everything went really well. I was up and walking around in no time. I had to keep telling myself to slow down so I wouldn't do any harm to my band. In the next couple weeks I did have one problem and that was a reaction to the bandages. It was terrible and landed me in the ER. My whole stomach was red and weeping. I got a prescription for Nystatin and cleared everything with no problem. Then I had some burning type sensations around the port area for about a week. Maybe pulled muscles? Gone now and I feel like normal now.

June 1-
My first fill. I was very nervous. There was no need to be though because everything went fast. A little sting and small amount of pressure. It was very cool watching my stomach on screen. My fill was 2cc in a 10cc band. Some restriction, but not much.

The first time I talked with Anita, Dr. Lopez's coordinator, she stayed on the phone with me for 78 minutes! She was very informative and caring. I was so nervous about going to Mexico for surgery. I heard nothing but glowing reviews. I was glad I did it though. My experience was one of a kind. The hotel I stayed in before surgery was gorgeous. The hospital was beautiful. Marble floors, wood cabinets, bathrooms had large glass showers. Private rooms with an entertainment area (movies to watch). The only draw back was the staff barely knew any English. This wasn't really a problem though. We both got the point and they were extremely friendly, helpful and caring. Funny to boot. I would have liked to have spent more time with Dr. Lopez. Busy man! Very attentive and funny. I was worried because someone else said he was business like, but this was not the case. He was informative and very funny. He made sure I was introduced to everyone on the team and felt comfortable with my decision. I was and I am better off for it. Go Dr. Lopez! I made a great decision for me.
