My doctor recommended it to me! Getting referred today to Dr. Rehnke. I have so much hope for the future now. After reading Susan Gorman's Web site and comments here. After John Candy's death (the actor). My brother got really concerned because he says that I look a lot like him. Hopefully one day maybe I will look like Arnold? I don't care as long as I am healthy and walk up stairs w/o having to sit down for 15 min.

UPDATE 12/2/1999: I was just notified today that my surgery was aproved by my insurance (Aetna/USHC) with no resistance. My date is set as Jan. 12 and I can't wait to start my new life on the road to good health. I was so worried that I would be fat for the rest of my life and that I would die as a result. I will be taking pictures shortly, so that I can post them here to document my progress.

UPDATE 2/14/2000: 4 1/2 weeks post op. Well I feel really good. I've lost about 50 lbs. I have also gone down about 4 pants sizes. I have taken before pictures, and after I'm done here, I'll go take some current ones. My official weigh in at the hospital was 462.

UPDATE 5/24/2000: A little over 4 mos post op and I feel great. I've lost 105lbs. Now at 370lbs. I will be going to Busch Gardens tomorrow with my wife, I hope that I will be able to fit in all of the rides now. Still the best thing I've ever done.

UPDATE 8/7/2000: Almost 7 mos post op now. I am down to 350lbs. That's 125 lbs so far and feeling great. I can eat just about anything, although a lot less of it. Still feeling great.

UPDATE 6/11/2001: 1 year and 5 months post op. I just had my incisional hernia repaired, and I also got a little tummy tuck. I weigh 289 now. Prior to the repair surgery, I was working out on the Stairmaster 4 times a week for 30 minutes, and then hitting the weights for about 2 hours. Still feeling great. I have updated pictures on my site, although, I have changed a lot since the pictures in April. I will have some more taken next week and post them on my site.

Great guy!!! Office staff is very helpful and knowledgable. Patti was really aware of what the insurance companies are looking for. I have gotten all of my info submitted and waiting for approval. Surgery date set for Jan. 12, 1999 Well it's May 24, 2000. I have gone from 475 to 370. I walk 30 min a day when I get up. I have to say that the exercise after the surgery is now a lot easier. A little over 4 mos and over 100 lbs. I feel great. I still see Dr. Rehnke once a month. He now has a support group that meets on Saturdays. I encourage anyone to come. You will learn a lot from it.
