My wonderful primary care physician Dr. Beauty Swe had everything authorized before I even walked in to see the surgeon. Needless to say, everyone I speak with seems to be surprised. I have had 3 pre-op tests and am hoping to have the surgery before Christmas. I was really hoping to start fresh in January with my "new life."
Update: My surgery is scheduled for January 28th Woot! I'm so excited. I had 6 preop tests and then two follow ups after they found something on my mammogram that turned out to be nothing to worry about.
Update: I have "crossed over" to the other side. I had my surgery on January 28th. I stayed in the hospital an extra five days because I could not hold even an ounce down, and I think the main problem for me was that I hurt myself trying so hard to get the liquids down and drinking too fast. You REALLY have to go slow right after, and the drugs to kill pain don't help, only disguise it.

I have been really lucky. My primary care physician took care of all the headaches for me and put it through. I recieved the referral about 2 weeks after I saw her and everything was already authorized and approved. I don't know if it is because my weight is so bad (480) or if my doctor just really helped speed things along. I am so grateful I haven't had to go through with some of the headaches I keep reading about here.
