today, I'm bigger than the average bear, next year, I hope to be a shadow of my former self.

It has been a year since surgery, I am down 183 pounds, with about another 150 to go.

I have been able to RE-ENJOY my hobbies again. I like to shoot firearms and I am an Amateur Radio operator. Last year, I would never have been able to walk the distance from the target to the firing line... my aim has improved since I now place the target further and further away. I am now able to do work on my own antenna systems in Ham Radio, I can now enjoy the social events such as the HUGE Dayton Hamvention.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: David J. Fallang M.D.
First impressions are lasting impressions... normally that is the case. I was impressed that on our first meeting, he remembered my name! VERY UNUSUAL for a doctor! MOST of my doctors know me only by the numbered code on the chart and the symptoms.. "you got a NAME?, why?" His staff were friendly and helpful... not too many FAT PEOPLE working in his office, I wonder why. He was working out of the Middletown Regional Hospital... I would not take my dog to the middletown Regional Hosptial after my brief (5 extremely long days) stay there! At nearly 700 pounds, I did not care what the risks were, I was at risk just walking! My lasting impression is that either HE or his office manager/head nurse/chief cook & bottle washer aka his wife, care more about MONEY then the patients well being... Having been in the service industry, when I bid out a job, I included all the followup service calls in the orignal quote... I had ASSUMED he did the same, until that is, he no longer accepted my HMO's plan... so I have not been back for after surgery follow up visits. I feel ABANDONED and very bitter. Forget any "after surgery care". Would I recommend Dr Fallang? NO! There are now many doctors doing the same work.
Insurer Info:
Humanna Gold
3 years ago I was denied. After reading about recent lawsuits, I decided to try again. Humanna Louisville kept telling me that they never received my doctors fax's and after about 3 months of weekly then daily phone calls, they finally got the fax's and then the surgery was approved. It took a real loud squeaky wheel to finally get thru the layers of B.S. and out right arragance to get to talk to the people that make the decisions. I even got the phone numbers that they are never to give to the insured. Moral to the story, demand your rights. Do not let them bully you. You are paying them for the service and you should get what you pay for. UPDATE 02Jan2K1; I am now with Anthem Senior Advantage. Humana is a fraud. As a result, I need t find a new doctor. Dr Fallang is not on the list so I cannot go back to him unless I want to pay over $70.00 per visit! This has taught me a lesson, when I do go back to work, I need to raise my prices for a service call! $70+ for a 15min visit... as a telecommunications professional, I should be making $85.00 per 15 min. :))) Does anyone know of a GOOD DOCTOR in the Greater Cincinnati Area?
