As most here, i have been overweight all my life. But finally last May (2002) decided it was time to do something about it for good. So now i waiting for my surgery date. I am so exicted, wishing they would call and tell me to come tomorrow (lol).I am 36 years old, married for 16 years and have 2 WONDERFUL stepsons ages 22 & 19 (which i have raised) and I have a beautiful 9 yo daughter.I don't want her to be overweight, so another good thing about the surgery, is i can teach her healthier eatting habits before it is too late for her. She is as excited about me having surgery as i am, she keeps looking at pictures of clothes saying "Mom when u loose weight, I want u to wear this", which most of it i would never be caught dead in (lol). She told me that she can't wait until i have the surgery and start loosing weight then when i go into her school her friends are gonna want to know, who is this u are with, ur mom is FAT. i can't help but cry and tell her i am sorry but of course she says, mom i love u fat or skinny, u are still my mom-- u just have to LOVE kids. My husband is supportive, but scared at the same time, he was told when i had my hysterectomy that i had some problems with waking up afterwards, so i can understand his concerns, but had to tell him i have put all this in the Lord's hands and he will watch over me. so, please pray for me and my family. 02/12/03--really feeling discouraged... called my surgeron's office 2 weeks ago and was told that I should have a surgery date the end of this month or the first part of March.. when I called yesterday was told he is scheduling in JULY!!!! that is really a bummer.. esp since I saw him back in Oct and insurance approved me in December..My precious daughter told me not to be impatient that they would get to me soon.. she is so special and smart for a 9 yo.. like when I eat something and say things like this may be the last time I eat this for a long time she will tell me MOM that doesn't mean for you to eat ALL of it because if you keep gaining weight that just means you have to loose that much more.. like i said so smart!!!!!


02/27/03 YES OH YES!!!!! I HAVE A DATE!!!!! ok I do have a date but it is not unitl June 11, but hey i have waited for 6 months already so few more won't hurt.. will be better anyways cause my daughter will be out of school and can go to the hospital with me. But too the surgeron's office said there may be a possibilty it could be moved up.. guess we will just have to wait and see---everyone have a wonderful and joyful day!!!




04/10/03 Hi everyone!!! 61 MORE DAYS!!!!!! it has been a while since I have been here to update or anything, but nothing has changed, date still 06/11/03. I don't have internet at my desk anylonger, people at work started playing on computer too much so they stopped it for a while, and my computer at home died!! So when I get a chance I use my bosses computer to come around and still read up on what is going on.. Well take care and congrats to everyone where ever you are in your journey!! GOD BLESS-- PS this war has really had a toil on me-- my best friend's 19 you son is over there fighting for our freedom!! So please lets keep our service men and women in our prayers.



Only 4 more days!!!!!!! Went yesterday for pre-op and all I had to have was some blood drawn. Start liquids at midnight tonight--I know the next 3 days will be wonderful with just liquids. I went and bought some Ensure to make milkshakes with so I am sure I can make it. LOL.. Kinda getting butterflies, but am sure this is normal, think some of them are excitement though... Well I probably won't post again until after I have my surgery.. so everyone please pray for me and my family!!!!

06/19/03 Well I am finally on the losing side!!! And it feels wonderful!!! I am 8 days pre-op and have lost 18 pounds already. I had no problems with the surgery, had surgery on Wednesday and home on Friday and back to work on Tuesday..The only thing I hate now is still being on liquids for another week!!! yuk!!! but hey if I am losing I will do what I have to. So anyone reading this and still unsure, I would do it!!!!



August 16, 2003--Well here I am 9 weeks pre op and loving it.. I have lost 52 pounds so far, of course when I look at myself i don't see it, but others tell me they can. It was wonderful going shopping and able to find something to fit that was not the biggest thing in the store, actually am down 3 sizes already. My precious daugther in church last Sunday reached around to give me a hug, and in church, goes... MOM I CAN REACH AROUND YOU!!!! was so wonderful to hear the exictement in her voice. My biggest thing now though is not making time to exercise... I know I have to MAKE the time, which I am working on. Well, will try to update more later.... December 23, 2003-- MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!! I know I haven't updated lately, but have been so busy with work and everything. But I am now 6 months post op and down 105 pounds!!! Life is so wonderful!!!! well hope everyone is well and wonderful. God Bless everyone during the holiday season!!!Anne

It took me 5 months to get my inital appt with Dr Gleysteen. But when the date finally came i feel it was worth the wait- he seemed to be very caring- esp not doing the surgery just because someone wanted to loose weight, i have worked as a nurse and know how doctors can be sometimes-- but he was very nice and professional. He asked several times if my husband or myself had any questions-- he was willing to take the time with us---very good. I have spoken with Barbara on SEVERAL occasions and she is super-- and very helpful as well. Now I am just waiting on Barbara to give me the phone call i am waiting on to give me my surgery date.. so i will keep things updated
