My name is Ree Ree. I'm 35 and the wife of the most wonderful man of God and mother of two beautiful kids ages 7 and 1. I'm a RN. I have three older sisters two of which are postop as well. I'm looking forward to my new life. It was a long journey for me to get to this point but I was so tired of being overweight, always feeling tired, never having any energy to do this with my kids and hubby, in addition to some significant HTN. My insurer, BCBS MS, literally stinks!!!!!!!!! They do not cover WLS...period!!!! Therefore, my DH and I made the sacrifice to borrow the money to pay for my surgery. We had originally bought a dump trailer that DH was using to haul FEMA debris. He was really doing well and therefore it wouldn't be a problem to pay for my surgery. Six weeks later, someone stole his trailer and we didn't have it insured so here we are with another bill, big bill to pay for and I still didn't have the money for WLS. My DH is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He never was upset. He just said , "God's gonna work it out." And He did. I was able to get a nurse loan through MBNA. Central MS Medical Center (CMMC) in Jackson, MS was offering cash paying patients a special price in honor of their fourth year anniversary. So, I received my pre-op appointment for 6-27-06 and was given my date of July 11. Everything was so fast after that because I had to go to Jackson on several occasions for nutritional counseling, meet with my surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Cleveland, and for the EGD. Now the next big day was July 11.

Future Update...
Well, I'm home, postop, and officially a loser. I actually lost 9 lbs on pre-op diet. My surgery went well without any complications. I had lap RNY-distal. I was very surprised to see my sis. She came to be with me from the ATL. I love you Sis!!! My DH and my Momma was there too, of course. My postop course was pretty uneventful except when I did my leak test, I drank the Gastograffin through a straw and I thought I was going to die. It took me approximately 8 hours to get over the air and I was on my way. When I was ready for discharge on Friday, I had a CXR and discovered that I had RLL pneumonia. So another day I had to stay. I was discharged on 7-15-06. It felt so good to sleep in my California king bed, to see my beautiful children who me the world to me, and all my family and loved ones. God is so good to me!!!!!
