I'm looking forward to having the surgery for quite some time. I found out about the middle of Dec '04 that I was approved. I told my husband and 2 girls. My husband is happy for me the kids are unsure. Mother in law was hard to tell.... So was my Dad....yikes! But all in all I am glad I told them. See I waited until I found out I was approved, so just in case I wasn't I didn't have to listen to the lectures for nothing!. Smart aren't I!.
In a few day I go for my pre op and will start my 10 day required liquid diet before the surgery. Not exactly looking for ward to that but I'll live.
I will write more when it gets closer..bye for now, Steph
Jan.23 05- Well I'm doing the countdown til my surgery.Only 1 1/2 days til the big day!
I had a scare early this morning.. I thought I had a bladder infection. My urine was cloudy and later in the morning I had to go so often. Of course its the weekend, so I had to go to the urgent care. They got a urine sample... no infection? Yes I was glad but what caused my problem. Not fun, thought I was going to wet my pants on the way to the hospital.
Anyways I am grateful I am healthy for the surgery.. Bought a huge jug of cranberry juice and I'm going to drink it faithfully.
Other than that I'm really sick of the liquid diet thing. I almost need blinders when my family is eating "real food". My poor honey feels so guilty when he eats knowing I can't. He said that he's going to eat healthier when I get home from the hospital.. I really hope so he needs to lose a hundred lbs to. I want him around for awhile.
Anyways I will write soon. If I don't write before my surgery I will when I get home. I'm going to stay with my sister who lives near my hospital (2 hrs away)...So I'll be back ASAP Wish me luck and lots of DRUGS I'm a wimp in the pain dept! March 26, 05
Yes its been forever since I wrote on here..Sorry.I had my surgery 2 months ago. All went well.
My only real complaint was right after the surgery I had very bad pain control. They gave me morphine which didn't phase my pain a bit! For 4 hours I complained about the morphine not working at all.I wasn't a happy camper! Finally one of the nurses listened to me and changed my pain meds to fentinal. That helped alot. After that things were down hill.
I had a stricture at one month out but it was easily fixed.
I've gone to 2 support group meetings which are very helpful being with people going through the same thing.
I've lost 40lbs as of yesturday :) Finally I weigh less than my sister!!! 1st time since I was a little kid!!. I talked to her today and she told me that I weigh less than her by 2 lbs.
I'm feeling really good right now..nothing to complain about. Everyone that knows me says how good I look.. That feels great to hear. I'm just hoping to be a lot lighter by this summer and thinner... So far so good...Til next time...

Well I called every other day.I had no problem with anyone from my insurance. The onlt trouble I had was getting stuff from the shrinks office and diatician to actually make it to the insurance. All I can say is I hope you do everything that is asked of you to have this go through. I really can't say I had a bad experience and I am glad.
