I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all.**Hugs**

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I've been lurking on this board for the better part of 2 years. This issue has arisen numerous times - you are not alone! One thing that people are trying and you may wish to consider is starting the immediate-post-op diet again and then just sticking with a pumped-up protein diet. I don't know how well that would work for me, as I'm a total carb addict. I love things like bread and chocolate, etc., but since I've started adding more chicken and cheddar cheese to my meals, I'm finding I fill up faster and eat much less. Of course, I'm still pre-op so I can't say that it would be the same post-op, but if you review the boards for a while, you'll see other people doing that - pumping up the protein. Maybe you can get some information from them directly. I really wish you the very best and hope your struggles will become easier to bear! (((hugs)))

Amber, First of all, take a breath and relax. You are losing weight and YOU will continue to lose weight. At this point in your journey you do need to look at what you are eating. I was 387.5 on the day of my surgery and now I am 149. This is what I did for food...the first several months I ate between 80 - 100 grams of protien a day, exercised, drank my water and kept the carbs to below 35. As I began losing less weight I increased the exercise and lowered to carbs to 30. As you get closer to your goal weight you will have to work harder to lose but you can still lose. Just know that you do have a tool to help but the work is up to you. Do the best that you can and don't worry about distal, proximal etc. You are doing a good job. KimmieTN

I know how you feel. I am still pre-op but I read what everybody says. I decided that what I have to do is listen to my dietician first and formost. After all she is dealing with me personally. I try to use other people's experiences on here in the context of what she tells me. I still get very confused. I know after surgery I will still be confused. Just keep trying and listen first to your dietician. Everyone is different and what works for one might not work for you. Sorry if I sound like I am rambling, I don't post very often and my words get tangled. Anyway - good luck and I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Amber! I was just reading your post about how they take out the gallbladder thru that little hole, and I was laughing cuz my girlfriends and I had just been talking about that yesterday at lunch! Can't you just imagine the popping sound it makes as they pull it out! lol IT'S A GOOD LIFE!

Hi Amber...congratulations on your success, recovery and big weight loss!! DON'T WORRY about not feeling full and thinking you can eat too much. It takes a few weeks for everything to sort of settle in and make sense. I felt exactly as you do for the first few weeks...it was then explained to me that the liquid and very soft foods empty from our pouch very quickly and therefore we can eat a lot more of them. As soon as you start on real food you will be amazed at how much less you eat. That is when you will really feel full and know it! So, don't worry so much now,k try to stay on a schedule of eating three meals and a snack or too..even if it is all liquid, pureed. I promise it will feel right soon. Good luck.

Well, I am home now, I had my surgery in Juneau on the December 30th and am home in Kodiak now, today is the 4th of January. I flew home today and have so many questions and thoughts on my mind, so i'll appologize in advance for such a long posting. Well, Surgery went well. Didn't have any major complications or anything. On Thursday the Dr. told me to hang around until Monday because it would make me feel better (I have major anxiety issues!) But he said that he would understand if i couldn't hold out that long, so Saturday (today) I decided to go ahead and fly home. I'm a little nervous to be so far away from my dr. or any dr. that does gastric bypass. I havn't taken my pain meds for a couple of days , but I'm starting to have some pain in my upper right abdomen. I hope it's not a hernia. Oh, he was able to do my surgery lap! He is able to do lap surgery on patients up to a bmi of 70. My neck hurts where the central IV was put in and infact still have a bit of a hard time with neck strength. I had surgery on Monday and weighed in on Friday and had lost 16 pounds...I was completely shocked! When I was in the hospital after the first couple of days i was feeling regretful, but like everyone sais, it gets better. I can't wait for it to get even more better ;-) Ok, i know that i am just a little paranoid, but i have to ask...I am 5 days post op...does this mean i'm pretty much in the clear for major complications? Well, thanks everyone for listening, and thank you also for all your words of encouragement it has really helped me! Thank you Amber
