1/22/02 - I've been researching wls for the last few months. I have my first appt. with Dr. Hamad this week. I'm looking forward to meeting her and finding out more about the surgery and if I'm a good candidate. Will update after my appt.
1/29/02 - Had my first appt. with Dr. Hamad. I loved her and her staff. I am going to cancel the other consultation that I had with another dr. I really feel that she is the one that I want doing my surgery. I now have do get my testing done - psych eval, EKG, chest xray, endoscopy, bloodwork, gyn, and sleep apnea test (at home type). I have all of these things scheduled over the next month. Hopefully, after that I will be able to get insurance approval and get a date.
2/26/02 - I got a date. I'm so excited. April 9th is it!! I could have actually had an earlier date, but chose this one because it was better for my schedule!
3/5/02 - Found out today that insurance was approved.

Surgeon: Giselle Hamad
I had my first appt. with Dr. Hamad. I liked her from the minute I met her. The whole office staff was great. They made you feel very comfortable and were very happy to answer questions. Dr. Hamad assured me that she would not leave the operating room until she was sure everything was the way she wanted it. She discussed her support group and how nice it was to get to talk with other patients. The aftercare program was thoroughly explained, including the diet by the nutritionist. The risks of surgery were discussed and also talked about in the video that they had us watch. It was a great appt. It made me feel that she, her staff and Magee Hospital are the one for me!

Was approved with one phone call from doctor. I didn't have to do anything at all.
