I am 5'4, 35 years old, married and have a 7 year old son. I have been overweight all my life and have tried everything possible to lose weight. This is now a life or death decision for me. I weigh 365 and I am at the highest I have ever been and I am truly concerned. I love to travel and love cosmetics. I am really not that active but I plan to change all that soon. I am anxiously awaiting a consultation date with a new doctor. I got as far as a surgery date with Dr. Leverton and then found out that she was out-of-network on my insurance plan. The insurance company gave me the names of several doctors that are on the plan and I have decided to go to Dr. Provost. Wish me the best. My future is in GOD's capable hands and my faith is in HIM!
5/17/01: I had my consultation with Dr. Provost. He is a very pleasant man, very low key. Had all of my questions answered given the fact that I had been through the process already. He is very thorough and I think he will work out fine. I am hoping their scale was a little off, I weighed in at 382. Oh well, pretty soon I will have it all under control with the Lords help.
5/29/01: I have a surgery date!! I am scheduled for surgery on July 16, 2001. I have so many feelings running through me it is hard to put them into words. My GOD is so GREAT!
6/30/01: We'll I am anxiously awaiting and counting down the days. I have a bundle of feelings right now, but I know the Lord is in control of my destiny and all of my trust is in Him!
7/07/01: I am on the downhill stretch now. I'm feeling rather good about whats to come during and after surgery, anticipating the cross over to a new life. I still get a little anxious at times, but overall I am really excited. What is really great is that the same excitement I feel is now spilling over to my husband and son. Their support means so much to me. I am truly blessed and highly favored by the Lord. If it had not been for HIS mercy, I could not have made it this far. For those still waiting for approval and a surgery date, keep the faith. Put your trust in the Lord and He will always be there right on time!
Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: David Provost, M.D.
I had a really good feeling about Dr. Leverton at the time I met her. The only thing that I was a little discouraged about was that the hospital was not equiped to handle severe emergency during surgery so you would have to be transferred to another hospital in or around Dallas. Other than that I think she was very informative about the surgery. As of May I had to change doctors because my insurance would only pay 70% of the bill because Dr. Leverton would be out of network on my plan. I have an appointment to see Dr. Provost at Zale Lipshy. I am really excited because I have heard great things about him. I will update later. Please say a little prayer for me. My appointment date is coming up soon. 6/30/01 My surgery date has been scheduled for July 16. I am so excited and I anxiously await to start my new life! I cannot say enough about Lois and Dr. Provost. The entire office staff was very informative and held back nothing concerning the surgerical procedure and the aftercare. I feel truly blessed to have Dr. Provost as my surgeon.

I did not have to deal the insurance company personally. The billing person at the doctors office did all the work for me.
