Dot- Best Wishes for a sucessful surgery and a speedy and uneventful recovery! I too am less than a month pre-op and have been satisfying my urges for my favorite foods. Now I am getting tired of eating and am ready to start the good stuff. Let your family not approve, you are doing what will be best for you, just try and start drinking some water and try some protein drinks before surgery so that you can see which ones you like best. You'll be fine and I'll see you on the Losing Side real soon!!!!! HAPPY LOSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, first I want to thank everyone for their encouraging comments. The surgery date is drawing near, and I'm a little nervous about the pain afterwards. Right now, I'm eating all of my favorite foods, and trying to do it guilt-free. But it's hard. My family keeps giving me disapproving looks - they say they're worried that if I get used to eating all these "bad" foods now, it'll be harder for me to get used to the diet after surgery. But all I want to do is get the urges out of my system. I only wish my family would let me feel satisfied and not guilty. I don't know if this is common for pro-op patients. comments, anyone? It's realy nice to have an outlet for my feelings. Thank you to the people who set up this site. :-)

Dot, best wishes for your upcoming surgery. I had mine in November 2000, and I have never had a single regret. One thing that may help to remember is that the nervousness is over with when you wake up in the recovery room to your new life.
