Hello, today is May 12, 2008, and I have more goodnews to share,
I have a grandson that was born on August 30, 2005 and a brand new grandaughter just born this April 16, 2008. It's not only been an exciting time for me..but also a very heart renching time. My husband passed away in 2006 from Cancer and my mom passed away 6 months after he. She passed away May 27, 2007. When my mom and my husband were sick, it seemed like tootsie rolls were my best friend..and eating, etc..I ended up putting 30 lbs. back on with my weight. I have since lost 28 of the 30 lbs., so I am almos back to where I was in 2004. I started out at 275 lbs., my surgery was April 9, 2003 and I had gotten down to 173, so I had lost 102 lbs. It was heartbreaking for me to gain back the 30 lbs., when they were sick, but I am back on track now.
It's not easy, but I am trying my best to be good to me.
I will keep trying to lose more weight, and hopefully get myself down to 155 or 160 lbs. I will be happy with that weight target.
All for now..thanks for listening..
Judy
9/10/03 I just wanted to let everyone know, that we have a new granddaughter....YESSSSSS, our granddaugter was born on the sameday as our closing, for our new house. To me, that was a blessed good luck omen... God has been with me so much this year:
First: A Successful Surgery
Second: A New House
Third: A New Granddaughter
We finally moved into our new home last Thursday, September 4th. We had been moving things up to the new house, but the big furniture was moved on September 4th.
I will try to post more soon...just so busy....
I have lost a total of 58 lbs., since my surgery, in April...so that is a plus.. Taking it slow...the slower the loss, the better I feel about it staying off for good....

Happy July 4 everyone. We just returned from visiting my family again. My daughter-in-laws baby shower was last Saturday, June 28. We had a great time at the shower and she got some many beautiful gifts for the baby. We don't know yet, whether the baby is a boy or girl, but we are hoping for a little girl.
As long as the baby is healthy, it doesn't matter what it is, but I am still hoping...lol
So many wonderful things are happening to us right now. We have purchased a new house...and we have been running around quite a bit. I try to get to Curves at least twice a week, although I am going to try to go even more, like three or four times a week. As I said before, we have just returned from visiting my family.
While we were away, when we got to my Mom's house, I stepped on her scale and was really so pleased. You see, from running around with the house, and going to Curves, I lost 7 lbs., that same week. The loss made my total loss 47 lbs., but I lost another one so, that makes 48 lbs., lost and I am so thrilled.
I am so pleased with my surgery...I would do it again in a minute..Take care...will post when we move into the new house.

Well, it's been 7 weeks since my surgery and I am so happy to report, a 32 lbs. weight loss. I know I need to increase my protein and my water, and after doing that, I will lose so much more weight. My Drs., appointment was yesterday and I did get to see Dr. Schauer. He is pleased with the loss so far, and for that I feel wonderful. I have noticed a very big difference in how I feel, with that loss. I am walking as much as possible, as long as it's not raining... I do also intend to join CURVES for women. My sister-in-law has joined and she loves it. I will keep you posted on my progress with CURVES also.. I just wanted to thank, Dr. Schauer, for being there for me,and for being so caring and understanding with me. I also wanted to thank Dr.Watson, for also being so caring, with me. I think Dr.Schauer's team is just wonderful, and I am so pleased, that I did pick Dr.Philip A.Schauer, as my surgeon. I have said it before and I will say it again...I would recommend him in a heartbeat for anyone looking for a great surgeon. My next Drs., appointment is not for two months...so, good luck to everyone. I will post more often from here on out.. -- Judy Hall

Hi Everyone,
My surgery was performed by Dr.Schauer on Wednesday 4/9/03. All I can say is THANK YOU, DR.SCHAUER. He is the most caring and concerned Dr., that I have every met. He had quite a job with me..I had to have my gallbladder removed also. It was what he called a porcelain gallbladder. It was one big piece of rock. He actually had to chisel it out of me. He did a wonderful job.He did have to send the gallbladder to pathology for a biopsy. He did tell me that most porcelain gallbladders were gallbladder cancer, but I told him I was not worried about anything like that, because I felt so good. HE did say to me, that I did have one thing, and that was a great attitude... I just love Dr.Schauer..and I would recommend him in a heartbeat...
I had no pain in recovery and I had no pain going back to my room. My back did start to bother me just a little bit several hours later...but I can't thank him enough. I am eating jello, drinking water, taking my meds, eating chicken broth also. No problem passing urine and no problem with passing gas or a bowel movement. I just can't tell you how happy I am to have had this surgery and to have had Dr.Schauer. Well, that's about it for today...my postop appointment is on Wednesday 4/16/03. I will update again after the postop visit..

Hi Everyone, two more day and a wake up. We just got back from visiting my sons and my mom...we had a great time. I have had the problem of a very sore throat and a stuffy head for two days now...I hope my surgery will still be for Wednesday, 4/9. I talked with Dr.Schauer and advised him, I will go to my PCP tomorrow to get checked out...and he told me to call the office when I find out, if it is something that will clear itself up.
I have to tell you...Dr.Schauer returned my phone call within 10 minutes of me calling..I am so impressed with him. I think he is wonderful.. I am a little nervous today. I have been doing just fine..so I hope it will pass. I know, that I am in God's hands, for a successful surgery...
When we were visiting my son and his family...I got to see a picture of the sonogram for their baby...I was so proud...I can't wait to see the baby and hold it... The baby is due August 15, 2003. Well, that's it for now... I want to thank everyone that has posted to my page...I truly appreciate the well wishes and the prayers...
Love,
Judy Hall
3/31/03 Hi Everyone, well only 9 days and a wakeup and I will be on the losing side. I am really looking forward to my rebirth on April 9, 2003. We are leaving tomorrow morning to see my sons and my mom, before surgery. I want to put their minds at ease before surgery. We actually left today, but had to turn back because of the snow...lol.. How would have thought, snow today... Tomorrow will be in the 50's. I have tried doing some walking around, but my lower back does bother me at times. So, I will just take small distances at first...I know once I lose the weight, I will have less of a problem with my back and I will be able to walk a lot further..Well, that is about it for now...
Talk with you when we get back. Judy
3/25/03 Well, only 15 more days...wow, I can't believe how fast time is going by for me. I have had all my tests performed, and thank God, everything has turned out just fine. My breathing tests are amazing the Dr., since I had smoked for over 20 years. My breathing tests, showed an oxygen level of 96-98%, and that is wonderful. I stopped smoking on June 26, 2002, after yet another bout with Bronchitis and pneumonia for the forth (4th) straight year. So, with all the meds from the Bronchitis and Pneumonia, my weight just sored up.. I was taking Predisone,Albuterol Inhailers, antibiotics...etc... I feel 100% healthier since stopping smoking. My only problem I have with being out of breat at times, is from the stairs, but my overall breathing is wonderful. As soon as the weight starts to come off, I know I will be 100%..
I am not a bit nervous about the surgery, I wonder sometimes, is that normal. I have done my homework as far as the surgery goes. I have 100% trust in my Surgeon,Dr.Schauer, and I am at ease with the hospital, Magee's Woman's Hospital.. I wonder, if I will get nervous, when the day actually does come closer, like 1 or 2 days before surgery. I have not been notified, that I would need to go to the hospital again for blood work. I guess that is because, I had all my major blood work completed on March 12. Funny, last March 12 (my husbands birthday), I was at the same hospital (Citizens, New Kensington), getting an exray of my knee... This year on his birthday, I had quite a lot of my tests performed. Xray's, blood work, sonogram and chest xray. I hope next years birthday, we are on an Island somewhere enjoying the sun and sand...lol. At least he is a wonderful sport about all this that is happening to me. He is a little scared, but he knows I really want this surgery, not only to be healthy, but to make sure, I am around a good longtime for our new grandchild due in August. He is the most understanding and most supportive person I have ever known.
11/4/02 I am seriously considering the minimal invasive surgery for weight loss.
3/18/03--I just wanted to say, hello. My surgery is set for April 9,2003 and I am really looking forward to it taking place. My Surgeon is Dr.Philip A.Schauer and my surgery will be at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. I have been just a little busy lately...lol, going through a battery of tests. I am thankful, that I am required to have all these tests. I had my psych and sleep test last week..I have blood work, xrays and echocardiogram tomorrow, which happens to be my husbands birthday... My husband has just retired, and we are looking forward to doing some traveling in the near future. In August, we will be going to NJ to see our new grandchild due on August 15. I am really excited about that happening. It is my sons first baby, but we do have four (4) other grandchildren. Three (3) are from my husbands daughters and my son has a stepson and the new baby on the way. What an exciting year this will be for me... Good health, a new baby, retirement and traveling..and a new car. We just bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe..and we love it... We picked it up last Saturday...

Surgeon: Philip R. Schauer MD
I met Dr.Schauer at the group workshop, over at Magee, on January 7. He is a very kind hearted person...that I could tell immediately. He has such sincere and pleasant eyes and a great sense of humor. I appreciate a sense of humor in people. It makes the Surgeon, more human and being at ease with the Surgeon is so important to me.
My husband and I attended the support group meeting in February and I found it to be so informative. I was in awe of the pictures and weight loss stories, that I had heard that day.
My preop appointment is tomorrow, March 19, and I will let you know how it went for me.. My appointment is with Dr.Schauer and I hope it goes smoothly. I trust that it will, as I have had so many preop tests already..lol
Only two more to go..and my surgery is now only, 22 days from today...Wow, I can't believe how fast the days are flying by for me..
Take care,
Judy
