I am 26 years old and will be having the bariatric surgery next Tuesday. I have been over 300 pounds for the past 8 years and have tried every diet known. I was lucky that my insurance covered the surgery and gave me no problems. I will try to keep things posted*** I had the surgery on Tues the 6th of July. I have had no problems. I have not experienced any dumping, and have drank kool-aid and sugar iced tea. I have not returned to my doctor since being released. I will see him on July 26.
***I am now one month post op and have lost 50lbs. I still have no porblems and have been very pleased.
****I am now going into 4months post-op. I have now lost over 100lbs and am having no problems. My doctor and I have been very pleased with my progress. I have experienced some hair loss, but this has slowed down in the past week.
Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Mark A. Shina, M.D.
I have found Dr Shina to be a total professional. He is very direct and to the point. He demands that you follow his instructions fully. This is the easiest way, because his was DOES WORK!!!! His office staff is wonderful and will answer all questions quickly and pleasantly. He at first is somewhat intimidating. He is a tall, good-looking man(Tom Selleckish) who speaks very directly and deeply. He is very commanding and honest. He will tell you the risks and discuss them openly. Once you get to know him, he is a loving, caring doctor who makes sure you understand what is needed from you for success. He visited me everyday in the hosp and make follow up calls at my home during the first month post-op. He is sure to explain what to eat and exercise. he has told me that I can see him weekly if I like. His concern is my success and I have seen him monthly since surgery. I am next scheduled to see him 11/6.
