I had my surgery on 3/13/00 and despite the emergency surgery the same day to stop internal bleeding, things are going well. I have lost a total of 50 lbs in one month. I am just now getting my energy back and the pain is lessening. I can't wait until I can eat toast! One more week! I am really glad I had this done but I can not stress how important to be psychologically ready. I did a lot of work in this area and I am glad I did because I have struggled with the loss of my "best friend" and cravings. Please contact me if you need any support or advice!

To be honest my first impression of Dr Yates was "what a HUNK" He is an absolutely "GQ" looking type of guy - which made this process just that much nicer. However I know that this is not the primary important impression. I felt very comfortable with him and his knowledge. My husband and I spent a great deal of time talking to him and he answered all our questions. He is very laid back and easy going. It was frustrating however because he rarely is on time and sometimes his priorities are on other things when he is spending time with you but he is always apologetic about it and once you get to know him you realize that is just the way he is. It is his office staff that completely makes up for his "doctor" type of behavior. They are awesome, knowledgeable, and so supportive. His nurse Kathy was available to me 24/7 thru the whole thing and never minded calls at 5 AM in the moring. Dr Yates folow up/aftercare was the primary reason I chose him. Plus he has a staff that is also available to help at any time. I had some psychological issures and his therapist was there for me several times after the surgery. Since I have had the surgery I have had the opportunity to hear Dr Yates speak to others about this surgery. I also have heard other doctors and Dr. Yates knowledge in my opinion , is far better than any doctor I have found. I would not question his integrity, competence in any way. Everything was extremely professional and wonderful. The more you get to know him the better he gets!!!! He's my MAN!
