I had my surgery on July 11, 2002 when I was 18 years old. At that time I weighed 292 lbs, which was not my heaviest. Some people might think that I was too young to be taking such drastic measures, however I tried so many other options. I saw a personal trainer 3 times a week for 4 years and the weight would come off, but then it would come right back again. I saw 5 different nutritionists, none of which could help. I am now days away from my 21st birthday and I weigh 167. I could not be happier!
Surgeon Info:
My surgeon was Malcolm Kenneth Robinson, M.D. He is a surgeon at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.He was very informative about my surgery and helped me to get a quick date for surgery because I was leaving for my first year of college. The staff in the office was amazing. He is ont of the most intelligent people that I have ever met. He went over all of the details of the surgery, including post-op items. The hospital has a psychologist that you can talk to and also a support group that he recommends you participate in. He wasn't the most personable man. He liked to get down to business. I appreciated his attitude though.
