Realization may be near:
It seems that the science is finally coming around to the understanding that weight issues/obesity may be genetically engineered into us. It seems that there are genes that control the mechanism for saitity and for obese individuals that gene does not function as planned. So it may not only be that we are genetically engineered to have slower metabolisms but we may also be genetically engineered to not know when we are not hungry. The interesting part of all of this for me is that medical science is finally realizing that there is science behind the reasons for obesity and not laziness or gluttony.
I have been large my whole life. Within the last five years though things stopped working for me. I had always been able work and live within societies norms for things booths in restaurants, movie theater seats, airline seats. Things never broke when I sat on them. Then things changed and I couldn't make things work anymore. I know my size isn't my fault but I need to change it so here I am on the road to doing just that.

Well guess what I got a straight flat DENIAL and this isn't even from the insurance company. Do you believe that. I am with the MILLS-PENINSULA MEDICAL GROUP and their auspicious referral committee says no way. My PCP Dr. Taradash went in on my behalf but to no avail. My proposed surgeon Dr. Wetter is going to make some attempts now and for that I am grateful. Do you believe this. is this or what.
I SAY AGAIN THEY WON'T EVEN GIVE ME A REFERRAL.
I am currently 515 - 530 or about 300 pounds overweight. I need to lose more than a lot of the people on these lists weigh before surgery. I want to get to 220.
My blood pressure is sometimes on the high side of normal sometimes high outright it fluctuates. I don't have diabetes yet. Blood test all came back normal. I snore loudly at some times but I don't think I have sleep apnea. My legs are swelling up and for a while would shrink at night but that is not happening much anymore. I have had two knee surgeries in the past and of late my knee has been acting very badly even with the surgery I may need to have another one soon
Hmmmmmmmmm GUESS I DON'T NEED WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY
Let's put it to a vote: All those in favor of me be able to at least get a referral to see the surgeon and then let an insurance company decide.
Please vote YES
All those that think that I have a healthy weight and I should expect to live a long and fruitful life.
Please vote NO
I'll let you know the results if I don't die before hand from a
heart attack.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
After fighting for two months I get to see my surgeon finally My fight was mainly against my medical group Aetna gave me great support and once they had all the information overturned my medical groups second review of my denial and forced them to let me see the surgeon GO AETNA I have alos been told by Aetna that this is the hard approval to get -to see a surgeon- and usually if the surgeon says yes he needs surgery it is approved by Aetna quickly I see the surgeon on the 12 of Oct and so I may have a surgery date very very soon.

Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: L. Albert Wetter M.D.
First impression was excellent. He listened to me a seemed interested in my particular case.
He told me which PCP he works with the best so I went to that PCP to get the referral.
He talked to me off the record so I didn't have to submit paperwork to the ins company.
He has been through the insurance game before so he let me know ahead of time who too see.
Will give more feedback as I findout
Insurer Info:
Aetna
It seems that my insurance company has swing
with the approval board when it comes even
to referrals. I feel that you are going to be
automatically denied on the first attempt. I
have comprised an appeal letter and am going
to submit it this week and ask for a expidited
response. The reason for denial seemed aimed
more toward guaranteeing a source of funds
than anything else They said they needed to
have a 1 year doctor supervised diet program
including weekly visits with the medical
groups doctor. I don't even think it would
have been approved with a similar diet program
from another group. They just wanted more money
at the expense of my health.
I feel the appeal letter I submitted is a
strong letter and my physical condition
should demand imediate approval
BMI 73.9 Weight 530
but you never know
I will keep updating as I get new information
