Well My surgery date is June 7th. Hopefully My date wont get bumped for vacations. I was at first nervouse but the wait is so long im not any more. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I will Help in any way I can
5/16: Well They had to Cancel my surgery date. Seem its the drs vacation week. They also did not realizet that I had none of the tests done. So I scheduled all 6 of them in 1 week. Gallbladder Scan 5/11. Cardiac Consult-Echocardiogram 5/15. Endocrine 5/16. and last Pulminary consult 5/18. I already had the nurtition consult. Boy was I hopping mad. But I Guess If you want something bad enough you must wait. I Will get a surgery date on 6/13 my next surgeons appt.
9/10/01- Well Im now post op about 6 wks. I have lost 56 pds so far. I will go back to the doctor tommorow for a new weigh in and check up. I Had a little set back. I got really sick, I At soup w/corn and rice in it. They are both no no's when you first have the surgery. I could not eat for a week. My gag reflexes are still not the same. I am Much better now though. Sugary drinks dont make me dump but babyfood does.. aint that funny. I feel ok on a whole. I had laproscopic ryn. Im not sure what else to write. Hi, Its been a long time since I last updated. A lot has happened. I will Say that the 1st 3 months after surgery are very difficult. Around Christmas of 2001 I started feeling very tired and Depressed. My hair was also falling out. But Depressed I Felt was not right. Im a very happy person. So I consulted my Pcp and She found b12 difficiancy. In 1 month it had dropped dramatically. So I get b12 shots monthly. After a few months the hair lost stopped and after my 1st shot I felt much better.
Well In Febuary I lost my father. In April I lost my cat. In May I lost My gallbladder. My gallbladder went bad. I had it removed may 9th. There was complications though. I was sent home the day after surgery. I was in so much pain it was unbearable. Well after 5 days of suffering I went To the emergency room. They found a bile leak. I was rushed to westchester medical center this was on may 14th by ambulance. On may 15th I had Reconstructive surgery. This Is technically what I had done to fix the bile leak. I had a small bowel reconstruction a hepatical Jejunostomy anjd a roux En Y loop. I spent 3 wks in the hospital were I Got a staff infection that was risistant to antibiotics and an infection called C-difficil. It seems these are infection you get from being in the hospital. I was on 4 different Antibiotics for 6 weeks. 1 Was a Strong IV antibiotic that made me vommit a lot. I am now again losing my hair. That really upsets me. It just started to grow back when all this happened.
On the Brighter side I have lost 230lbs. I still need to lose another 60-80lbs. The weight lose has slowed down a lot. I dont see Dr artuso anymore. He does not take my insurance anymore. I have MVP. Its ok though. Evalyn

My Surgeon Is Dr Dominick Artuso. He is Dr Cerabona's Partner. He is a very nice man. I will Update after there are more results.. Right They have done NOTHING for me. If I did not continusly Call I would Never move on with my surgery. Well I had a surgery Date set for June 7th. BUT is seems that the Dr put in for vacation, Plus They Thought I had all the testing done. I did NOT have the testing done. So Thats another setback. So Its May 31st now. I have all The testing done. These are what the test included. I had a pulminary consult, a cardiology consult, and endocrine consult, an echocardiogram, a phychological consult and a nurtitional consult, I also had my gallbladder scanned. I had it all done in 7 days. I am very determined. So I now have a second appt with Dr cerabona For june 13th. then i will get a new surgery date. So anyone reading this Pray for a not so far away date. Thanks 6/13 Well I went Showed my test results and got my Date. My Date is july 30th, It may be sooner if everything works out with the new doctor they are getting. I am very Happy with My new date though. 9/10/01- I have to say one thing. My Doctor.. Dr Dominick Artuso Is The greatest. I would recommend him to anyone. Even though he told me he would have to do my surgery open ryn.. He did it laproscopic. I was told they dont do open on pts who weigh over 300lbs. But he took the chance and I have to say I a really appreciate it. I have 5 small scars. I am very happy and would recomend him highly. 1/7/02 I figured I should Update my profile. Its about time. I am doing very Well. I Have lost 101lbs so far. I have an appt with Dr Artuso Tommorow. I have not seen him in 2 months. I dont feel I have lost that much more Weight. Oh well we will see. I am doing Well. I am Losing my hair. I guess I should have expected it. That does not make it any easier. I had blood work. I have low B12. I Was very tired, losing lots of hair, My Nails were Breaking and was depressed. It is very unlike me to feel depressed. My Memory and balance were off. So after blood work they found The B12 was low. I am going to have my Zinc Blood work taken tommoroow. I have started Taking my Vitamins every day. I now take Womans Multi Vitamin, Biotin, Zinc a Hair vitamin and B12. I take a liquid b12. It absorbes better they tell me. Its a lot of vitamins. I am Hoping this will Help with my hair. I Am having very little trouble with my new stomach. I get a little belly ache here and there, But no vommiting in 2 months. Nothing Major. I am Really happy about that. I am eating mostly Chicken, some turkey and fish. I am also eating cheese Pasta..ect.. I DONT eat Red Meat, Rice, Corn, and leafy veggies.. The only protein I am allowed is Chicken, Turkey and Fish. Its not to Bad. I dont want to Disturb My Stomach. Hopefully Dr Artuso will allow Small amounts of low fat red meat.. Am I glad I had this Surgery YES.. Would I do it again. YES. Am I happy with my Surgeon Choice YES. By for now..

I Did not have to deal with them at all. I got approval in less than 24 hrs.. I called thurs afternoon. They had no request for surgery in there computer. I called Friday morning 9a and was approved. I must say My doctors office really came through. The secretary said " I get approval within 48 hrs" I had my Concerns. BOY WAS I WRONG. My Doctors office was amazing. I want to Thank Colleen From Dr Artuso's office. She did an amazing job.
