They approved me in one day but between the approval and the surgery, they decided that they no longer wanted to pay for these surgeries. They discontinued their contract with my surgeon when it came time for his renewal. I heard that they were going to phase out WLS altogether. Finally after fighting them they honored their previous approval. Furthermore there was an article in the paper that said that they ilegally were turning down WLS surgery and they had no gotten permission from the Fla Dept of Insurance. They claimed it was a computer mistake..Yeah right!!! That explains why when they were trying to deny me and my doctor was even willing to see if they would cover my already scheduled surgery out of network..they said it was not a covered out of network surgery. They lied it was!!!!! I guess these insurance companies will continue to play games with us as long as they don't have to pay the price for 'computer errors'. It is a shame because up to that point I was very pleased with them. I received my bill for the upcoming year and their new prices are ridiculous..so its time to find another co after I get my surgery.
