Hi Kambra, Wanted to say congrats on your surgery & weight loss. How proud you must feel about yourself. I noticed by reading your profile, you have already realized that the surgery is not a cure all. I had surgery 7/18/01-Dr. Newhoff was my surgeon also. I have lost 130lbs & feel great, my life is so totally different in the best of ways. But I still have food issues that have to be dealt with. Make sure you attend your support group meetings, they are very helpful. Know that you are not alone in this new journey. I live in Peoria. Please let me know if I can help in anyway. Take care & God bless, Lorie!!

Hello Everyone - This is Kambra's "Angel" (her sister). She's now officially ON THE OTHER SIDE!! She is doing great! 3rd day and she's sipping water. She had her NG tube very comfortably removed yesterday morning (was in less than 24 hours total!). She's still in the hospital. She had to have her gallbladder removed and she had a small umbilical hernia that Dr. Newhoff repaired. We were told both of these are common in overweight people. PLEASE CONTINUE TO KEEP HER IN YOUR THOUGHTS & PRAYERS AND WE WILL UPDATE WHEN WE CAN!! THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT.

Kambra, that day you've patiently (ok, SOMEWHAT patiently :-) waited for is finally near! You strike me as a very sweet woman, and I know that when you get to the other side, you'll be so much happier being able to live the life that obesity keeps so many of us from living. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers all day on Thursday. Best wishes, and look forward to hearing from you when you're on the losing side!

Kambra, You and I are having the same surgery on the same day, but all the way across the country. May it all go well with you: a textbook smooth operation and flawless recovery. Remember: this is the beginning of a new chapter in your life. It's going to be GOOD!

“Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” William Jennings Bryan. Dream what you want to dream, go where you want to go, be what you want to be, because you only have one life and one chance to do all the things that you want to do. The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the most of everything that comes along their way! May God hold you in the palm of His hand and Angels watch over you!
