I have been an LPN for 4 years and am now back in school finishing my RN. I am 44, have been married for 25 years, and have four children. I have had a terrible time keeping weight off since I had neck surgery 3 years ago. The surgeon somehow damaged my right vocal cord and it is now paralyzed and obstructs my airway preventing me from exercise for the last 3 years. Which was very difficult because I used to walk 5-10 miles daily just to maintain. I had lost about 75 pounds on Phen-fen before my neck surgery. After that medication was taken off the market 45 pounds came back on almost immediately then after my surgery the rest piled on along with some more.
I had my gastric bypass July 11,2003. I am 11 weeks post op and have lost around 50 pounds. My 3 month check up is Oct.9. I have had absolutely no complications. I am very compliant to what the dieticians and Doctors instructions. I started out in a size 22-24 pants and am already wearing some 16's. I am very excited about the fact that I do not have to keep these big clothes in my attic for future dates. I truely believe that this surgery was a long awaited answer to prayer. I have begun to walk again (unable to talk while I walk). I also go to the weight room. Because of my breathing difficulty I was able to have my surgery before I developed any other major medical problems that were sure to come with more weight and familial history. I recomend this surgery!! I like eating to live and not living to eat. It is an act of my will, don't think you can go out and have this surgery and not change bad habits. My beginning weight is wahat is listed below.
Blessings to you all,
Scarlet
