5 1/2 months out and I really do not know how much weight I have lost, but I am down approx 5-6 dress sizes. I can eat meat again and my hair loss is lessening. Continue to workout 3-4 times a week and walk 1-2 miles a day. My problem now is that I do not see myself the way others do. I still see the old fat me while others see the new me. I have friends whom I have not seen in several months and they do not recognize me. Even my mother did not recognize 5 months after surgery when I picked her up at LAX this month.
Surgeon Info:
Surgeon: Philippe Quilici
Dr Quilici had preformed surgery on me before so I knew that I was in competent hands -- surgical competence is more important to me than bedside manner. He provides you with a WLS notebook that contains the risks, lifestyle changes, etc., everything you need to know to make an informed decision. His office offers support groups for pre and post op patients. These support groups are an excellent way to learn firsthand about the surgery and the results as well as side effects. His staff is incredible and always available to help finalize last minute details and answer questions. Overall I would rate him and his staff a 10+.
Insurer Info:
Aetna
My out of pocket expense was $240 -- for a $43,000 surgery. Not too bad!
