Hello Everyone,

Today is September 1, 2004

My name is Misti Lea Montoya. I am 19 years old and I had the Gastric Bypass when I was 18 years old. My surgery date was on July 16, 2004 and I am now 46 pounds lighter. My surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Alleyn in McAllen Texas and yes it was open. I feel that since the surgery I have gained more self-confidence. Before the surgery I was weighing in at 352 pounds. Now I weigh an incredible 306 pounds and I am only 1 month and 3 weeks into my surgery.


Surgeon Info:
My Surgeon was Dr. Robert Alleyn, from the first day I met him I could tell that he cared. Ever since the surgery I have grown closer to him and his office staff. I think that all the patients who see him should be offly proud to have him as a surgeon because he does care. Ever since my surgery he has checked up on me. He has even put together a support group center for us to attend. Dr. Alleyn makes sure to explain and take the proper precautions before and after the surgery. If I had to rate him from 1 (being the lowest) and 10 (being the greatest) I would rate him at 10. As a recent patient I would have to say that surgical competence and bedside manner both matter and are both great.
