6-1-99 I am 22/Female. I have been overweight for almost 8 years. I am currently at 294 pounds. I have starting doing research and am cconsidering having WLS. I would appreciate any tips and suggestions.

6-16-99 I finally made an appointment with Dr. Nye. It is in the morning. I am supposed to take 2 letters of referral but do not have them. I will update after the consult.

6-17-99 I went in to see Dr. Nye this morning. He was very nice. He said that there were several procedures that were available to me. He told me to get my thyroid tested and keep a food diary for 3 weeks. I go back on July 8th.

5-4-00 Gosh, it has been almost a whole year since I have even thought about all this. After visiting Dr. Nye, I decided to give it one more go at natural weight loss. I was doing good and lost about 40 pounds which I have almost put back on. Back up to 285. So it seems that this is going to be my way to go. Someone I know from Brewton has had it done and man does she look great. Called a new Dr. this morning and they said that I would have to take care of all the insurance information myself. Sent a call to the insurance company since this is exluded and they said no way. So I sat down and wrote them a letter which will go out today. We will see.


Surgeon Info:
Dr. Nye Was a nice gentleman except he did not spend very long with me. Just in and out. and the visit wasn't cheap. It must be nice to make 200 off a 10 minute visit.

I called them and asked them how to beging an appeal process. Should I see the Dr. first or should I write them a letter. They told me they would not be an appeal process because it was excluded. Letter written to Insurance company.
