**The staff here at ObesityHelp.com would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Julie's friends and family.**
Julie passed away on April 14, 2002. An autopsy has been performed; but, the results are still pending.
She was in and out of the hospital for the last 6 months because she was so dehydrated she had to get iv fluids on a monthly basis. She finally found a doctor that diagnosed her with pancreatitis and wanted to do something about those ulcers and was going to do some type of surgery. On April 12th the doctor admitted her into the hospital so she can get nourishments and iv fluids and Sunday morning at 4:24am the nurse went to check on her and she wasn't breathing. She passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2002 at 4:44am.
4/1/02-I had open RNY on Nov 1, 1999. Starting weight was over 300 lbs. I have now reached my goal weight and am actually underweight now at 114 lbs. I've had a lot of trouble with stomach ulcers and my gastroenterologist has recommended that I have surgery to remove the old "pouch" that is ulcerated and have another pouch created with part of the transected stomach. Currently trying to find a surgeon that can do this.

10/4/99 My first impression of Dr Feinstein was good. He is very direct and to the point and seemed very optimistic that this was the right decision for me. His office staff is WONDERFUL. Char has been keeping in touch with me every few days to let me know what's going on with the insurance.
Surgery scheduled for November 1st, 1999.
Insurer Info:
Aetna, HMO
10/18/99 Great West (One Health Plan) requires 1) Certificate of Medical Necessity 2) Psychiatric Evaluation 3) Documented previous weight loss attempts. All this information was sent to the medical review nurse today and I was told it was being forwarded to the physician review board and should take about 2 days for a decision.
10/20/99 When I called to get the status from the insurance I was told it was denied. I left a message for the manager of the review board to fax me the denial letter because I was going to appeal it through Walther Linstrom. 20 minutes later the manager called me back and said it was denied because I did not have 12 months of *continuous* medically supervised diets. I explained that the lapse in the last two programs I was on was due to the 2 knee surgeries I had in between. The manager said that was a good enough reason for him and over-rode the denial right there on the phone!!!! I was shocked and excited!!!
